On June 4, 2025, at Thistle Lodge No. 36 in Cape Breton Center, Bro. Darren MacFadgen was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in a heartfelt ceremony led by DDGM David Langham. This event marked Langham’s final official duty in his role, making the occasion even more significant.
Adding to the special nature of the evening, Bro. Darren MacFadgen’s son, Dean MacFadgen, was initiated into the Lodge, alongside fellow initiate Sreejith Devarajapanicker. Dean, the taller Entered Apprentice in the photographs, was surrounded by family members who came to witness this milestone. His father, Robert MacFadgen, a dedicated member of Thistle Lodge, attended the event, as did his maternal grandfather, Keith McKeen from Queens Lodge No. 34.
Presiding over the evening was Worshipful Master Bro. David Murrant, ensuring that the final gathering under Langham’s tenure was both meaningful and memorable. This ceremony not only honored Darren MacFadgen’s service but also welcomed a new generation into the Masonic tradition, making it an unforgettable night for all in attendance.
