Becoming a Freemason means joining a global fraternity of men on the same journey, working together to become better and to build a better world. We accept men from all walks of life who demonstrate upright conduct and acknowledge a belief in a Supreme Being.

Masonic organizations around the world vary in their traditions and entrance requirements. For the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia, the basic requirements for admission to Freemasonry are:

Be a man​
-
Be a resident of Nova Scotia

Be a minimum of 21 years of age, or 18 years of age, if the son of a Freemason
-
While there is no requirement to be of any religious affiliation, a Freemason must acknowledge a belief in a supreme being
-
Must demonstrate upright conduct and be of good moral character
Who can be a Mason?

How do I apply?
Candidates typically apply directly to the Masonic lodge that they intend to join. The best way to do this is to locate a local lodge where you live, work, or study and to approach that lodge directly and request information.​
