Purpose: This policy seeks to facilitate the documentation of lodge events through photography while ensuring that the dignity of Masonic ceremonies are upheld, traditions are honoured, and the private affairs of the Craft remain safeguarded.

Guidelines:

Designated Photographer. Only one designated photographer, authorized by and operating under the direction of the Worshipful Master or the most senior lodge official, is permitted to take photographs during the proceedings.

Prior Notification and Consent. The lodge must be informed before the ceremony that photographs will be taken. All attendees must be given the opportunity to opt out of being photographed.

Preservation of the Greater Lights. Photographs must not reveal the position of the Greater Lights. If necessary, post-production blurring techniques should be applied to maintain this requirement.

Prohibition on Altar Work Photography. Photography of any work conducted at the altar is strictly prohibited.

Restriction on Candidate Processions. No photographs are to be taken of candidates in procession and during the execution of degree ceremonies.

No Photography of the Board of Installed Masters. Taking photographs within the Board of Installed Masters of the installation ceremony is not permitted.

Enforcement: The Worshipful Master and the designated photographer are responsible for ensuring compliance with these guidelines. Any violations of this policy will be addressed to uphold the decorum and integrity of lodge proceedings.
